T.H.E Difference - Environment
As a forward thinking company, we are constantly working to reduce the impact we have on the environment. Our ‘eco-friendly’ credentials currently include cutting down carbon emissions by over 490 tonnes since 2006 and we continue to look for ways to reduce carbon emissions in the supply chain by improving efficiency through innovative technology.
We realise that driving styles can affect the level of carbon emissions. Using the Greater Than system, various aspects of driving techniques are monitored including speed, the rate of acceleration and the use of the footbrake. If driven in a certain way, more fuel than necessary can be used and through general wear and tear on the vehicle make it less environmentally friendly. Statistics are constantly analysed with recommendations put into action daily to improve the energy efficiency of drivers.
In the future we plan to collect and recycle waste packaging as well as consolidate orders to reduce the number of trucks going to city centre destinations. This and other such initiatives have meant that from 2007 to 2008, Woodall Transport Group has quadrupled its reduction in carbon emissions.
